The Vintage Parlor Orchestra returns to Wealthy Theatre! Since its inception in October 2018, VPO has produced 22 programs in various Grand Rapids venues performing classical music in non-traditional spaces. The orchestra specializes in giving performance opportunities to local composers and musicians from the West Michigan area.
Our 23rd program will feature works for String Orchestra by Scandinavian composers. Opening the concert will be Swedish composer Kurt Atterberg's Sinfonia for Strings. After intermission we will perform Danish composer Carl Nielsen's Little Suite for String Orchestra. Flautists Leslie Deppe and Abigail Walsh will join the VPO Strings for Jean Sibelius' Suite Mignonne. Samuel Barber's Adagio for Strings will conclude the concert.
Grab a beer and experience classical music like never before! The night will feature a relaxed atmosphere, clapping between all movements, a 35 member chamber orchestra, and an open concession stand! We will also be engaging our audience in a game of Random Instrument Challenge. Instruments are courtesy of our sponsor, Meyer Music.
